OLFA's History of Innovation
Events/Trade Shows

Yoshio Okada, the inventor of the snap-off blade cutter and the founder of OLFA Corporation.

OLFA® products manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters are located in Osaka, Japan. In 1956, Mr. Okada, the founder of OLFA Corporation, introduced the world's first snap-off blade, which was inspired from analyzing the sharp cutting edge produced when glass is broken and how pieces of a chocolate bar break into segments. Since then, the demand for the snap-off blade has escalated worldwide.

In 1979, OLFA then created the first rotary cutter which revolutionized the way quilters and crafters create--easily, quickly and safely. Known for its innovation and quality, OLFA now offers a comprehensive range of premium cutters, knives, blades and accessories for industrial professionals, contractors, do-it-yourselfers, safety managers and quilters and crafters. Believing that high quality, durability, efficiency and safety are of the utmost importance, OLFA is committed to providing premium products, which is why all OLFA handles are Guaranteed Forever.

We thank you for your interest in OLFA® and encourage your use of these products.
