When the kids were little, Santa left his Sack under our tree filled with the most treasured presents. Every year since, we’ve been leaving Santa’s Sack out for him and he continues to fill it with a special gift for each of our children. Start your own holiday tradition by stitching up Santa’s Sack to surprise the little ones in your family.

Time to Complete: 3 Hours
Tools Needed:
Materials Needed:
- 1 yard tie-dyed muslin
- ½ yard red cotton
- ¼ yard Warm and Natural batting
- 2 Small Buttons for Eyes
- Small scrap of red felt for Nose
- 1 yard thick red yarn or cording

- Trim top and bottom edges of muslin so that they are straight.
- On top edge of muslin, press under ½", then press under 1" and stitch in place to form casing for yarn or cord.
- Cut slits or button-holes on inside of casing for cording. Thread yarn or cording through casing.
- Using pattern and red cotton, cut out Santa’s hat. Measure 6" down from casing on muslin, and 10" in from the left side. This is where you will place the center top of Santa’s hat. Hand or machine appliqué hat in place.
- Cut 2 layers of batting, each 4" x 28" long. Fringe using rotary cutter, being careful not to cut through top ½".
- Starting at left bottom corner of hat, pin batting fringe in place for beard, using photograph for placement. Stitch in place.
- Cut and fringe small pieces of batting for eyebrows and mustache. Stitch in place on face. Add button eyes and small red pointed nose.
- Turn muslin right sides together, selvage to selvage. Stitch bottom and side.
