Personalized Project Book
Print Print

Take an ordinary composition notebook and turn it into a book that will keep you organized and inspired. It’s easy to embellish with scrap booking supplies and the OLFA decorative blades. Make one for you and one for a friend!

Skill Level: Beginner

Time to Complete: 2.5 hours

Tools Needed:

Materials Needed:
  • Mead 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" composition book
  • Double-sided scrap book paper
  • Chip board letters
Instructions
  1. For the front and back covers, cut two pieces of scrap book paper 7” x 9 ¾”.
  2. Use a decorative blade of your choice to cut ¼” off of one 7” side.
  3. Round the corners to match up with the notebook.
  4. Cover the back of the paper with glue and attach to the covers of the notebook. Place the decorative edge toward the spine, matching up the corners.
  5. For the inside covers, follow the directions above, cutting the paper 7 ½” x 9 ¾” and trimming to 7 ¼” with a decorative blade.
  6. Use the chalking ink to distress the edges of the book cover.
  7. Cut a strip of paper 1 ¾” x 9 ¾” using a decorative blade of your choice. Chalk the edges.
  8. Glue the strip down the center of the book.
  9. Cover chip board letters of your choice with paper.
  10. Working from the back, use the OLFA art knife to cut away the excess paper. Chalk the edges.
  11. Tie a ribbon around a letter.
  12. Place a glue pop dot on the back of each letter and place on the strip.
  13. Cut file tabs from scraps with the punch. Chalk the edges.
  14. Attach the tabs to notebook pages for your subject areas. Write the subjects on the tabs.
  15. Option: If you would like a divider for each section, cover the notebook paper on both sides and then glue your tab to the divider instead of the notebook page.
  16. If you wish, make pockets from scraps for the inside of the book, cutting with decorative blades.
