  • Be sure the decorative rotary blade is installed correctly on your Deluxe Rotary Cutter. View this video for proper installation.

Precision Art Knife (AK-4)
12″ x 18″ Self-Healing Rotary Mat (RM-CG)
45mm Deluxe Rotary Cutter (RTY-2/DX)
45mm Scallop / Peak Blade (SCB45-1)
6″ x 12″ Non-Slip, Frosted Advantage™ Acrylic Ruler (QR-6×12)

Mead 3-1/4” x 4-1/2” mini composition book
Double-sided scrap book paper
Chip board letters
Ribbon or fibers
Chalking ink
Glue stick
Glue pop dots
File tab punch
Corner rounding punch
Hole punch

  1. For the front and back covers, cut two pieces of scrap book paper 4-3/8” x 6-1/2”.
  2. Use a decorative rotary blade (we recommend the Scallop / Peak blade) to cut ¼” off each short edge.
  3. For each cover, fold the paper in half, matching the decorative edge.
  4. Cover the back of the paper with glue and attach to the covers of the notebook. Place the decorative edge toward the spine, and the fold on the edge of the book.
  5. Use the chalking ink to distress the edges of the book cover.
  6. Cover chip board letter of your choice with paper.
  7. Working from the back, use the OLFA art knife to cut away the excess paper. Chalk the edges.
  8. Punch a hole through the letter and ½” down from the top edge of the book.
  9. Tie fibers through the hole of the letter and through the book, knotting them at the top.

  10. Place a glue pop dot on the back of the letter to hold in place.
  11. Cut a file tab from scraps with the punch. Chalk the edges.
  12. Attach the tab to the back cover of the notebook.

  13. Personalize the tab.

  • If you would like to create dividers for different sections, cover the notebook paper on both sides and then glue your tab to the divider instead of the back cover of the notebook.
  • Make pockets from scraps for the inside of the book, cutting with a decorative rotary blade.
